USIMS review 2026: one reusable travel eSIM, with 10 GB from $9

USIMS offers one reusable travel eSIM with affordable data across more than 120 countries.

You know that moment when you land in a new country, switch off airplane mode, and suddenly your phone is the most important thing you own? You need a map, a taxi app, your hotel confirmation, WhatsApp, maybe your banking app. And you’d much rather not pay roaming prices (the premium rates your home carrier charges for using its network abroad) for any of it.

That’s exactly the itch USIMS scratches. Here’s how it works, what it costs, and who it suits best.

So, what is USIMS?

USIMS is a travel eSIM service. An eSIM is a digital SIM already built into most recent phones, so there’s no plastic card to swap, lose or hunt for at an airport kiosk. You install one USIMS eSIM, leave your regular SIM exactly where it is, and buy data packages for wherever you’re heading, all inside the app.

Your normal SIM keeps handling your number, calls and texts. USIMS handles the internet. One thing worth knowing up front: USIMS is data-only, so it doesn’t give you a separate phone number. The good news is that WhatsApp, FaceTime, Google Maps, Uber, Bolt and email all run on data, so for most trips that’s all you need.

The USIMS website lists 120+ countries, instant activation and no monthly subscription, while the app store listings mention an even wider footprint (200+ countries), so the map keeps growing.

The neat bit: install once, reuse it

Most travel eSIMs are installed fresh for every trip. USIMS is built around one eSIM that you keep. According to its FAQ, the eSIM has unlimited validity (it never expires) as long as it stays on your phone, there’s no monthly fee for having an account, and the eSIM itself is free for first-time buyers. If you ever delete it by accident, a replacement costs $1.

So next time you travel, you just open the app, pick a destination and buy a package. A small tip from the FAQ: you don’t need a new eSIM for each plan. Keep the one you have and simply add plans to it.

If your phone supports dual SIM (two lines active at once), your own number stays live alongside USIMS, so friends, family and colleagues can still reach you the usual way.

What it actually costs

Here’s the current price list, which we checked on November 2, 2026. Every package is valid for 10 days (validity just means how long the plan works once activated).

Europe

  • France: 10 GB for $9
  • United Kingdom: 10 GB for $9
  • Spain: 10 GB for $10
  • Italy: 10 GB for $10
  • Switzerland: 10 GB for $10
  • Belgium and Luxembourg: 10 GB for $10
  • Germany, Austria and the Netherlands: 5 GB for $10

Further afield

  • United States: 10 GB for $15
  • Japan: 10 GB for $15
  • South Korea: 3 GB for $15
  • Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore and India: 2 GB for $15

Plans start from around $2 depending on the destination, and the FAQ says buying several plans together can bring discounts of up to 50%. That’s worth a look if you already know your itinerary or you’re setting up phones for the whole family.

To put the Europe numbers in perspective: a week in Paris, London, Rome or Barcelona with 10 GB covers navigation, messaging, email, browsing and a healthy amount of social media, for about the price of a sandwich and a coffee.

Try it before you commit

USIMS advertises 1 GB of free data for new users in the USA and Europe, which is a lovely, low-pressure way to see how an eSIM feels. The app also promotes a “Free Essentials” mode: always-on, low-speed data (slower than a paid plan) meant for messaging, maps and banking. Offers can differ by region and change over time, so the home screen of the app is the best place to see what’s available to you right now.

Setting it up

The nice thing is that the whole process happens inside the app. No emailed QR codes (those square barcodes you normally scan to install an eSIM) and no copying long activation codes.

  1. Download the USIMS app (iPhone or Android) and sign up. You’ll get a one-time code by SMS or WhatsApp.
  2. Go to Settings, tap “Buy eSIM” and pay with Apple Pay, Google Pay or a card.
  3. Tap “Install SIM” and follow the prompts.
  4. When you arrive, open your phone’s Cellular (or Mobile Data) settings, turn the USIMS line on and select it for mobile data.
  5. Leave your main SIM as the line for calls and texts.

The app checks your phone’s compatibility for you. The iPhone app asks for iOS 17.6 or newer, and eSIM support is standard on recent iPhones, Samsung Galaxy phones and Google Pixels. If you like to be tidy, wait until just before you fly to switch it on.

Great for multi-country trips

Think London, then Paris, then Rome. With old-school prepaid SIM cards that meant shops, tiny SIM trays and a pile of leftover plastic. With USIMS, the same installed eSIM stays in place and you manage everything from the app. The app listing also says that buying a plan for one country gives you coverage across its whole region, and the website offers regional plans too, so you aren’t starting from scratch at every border.

What travelers say

The Google Play listing shows 100,000+ downloads, and the App Store listing says the app is trusted by more than 300,000 travelers. On the US App Store it holds 4.1 stars from 110 ratings.

The reviews that stood out to us are the ones about everyday trips. One traveler who used USIMS in Italy in late 2024 said setup was straightforward and the connection held up all trip, so they could stay in touch with friends nearby and family back home. Another, who popped over to Europe for a long weekend, loved being online the moment they landed and found coverage solid across several countries. On Google Play this year, reviewers in April and July described the service as easy to use and affordable, and recommended it to other travelers.

As with any app, experiences vary from person to person, so the free data is a handy way to test it on your own phone before you buy a bigger plan.

How USIMS compares

These services all solve the same problem in slightly different ways, so here’s a snapshot using US plans (prices checked November 2, 2026, and they can change):

ServiceExample US packageWhat it’s known for
USIMS10 GB / 10 days: $9One reusable eSIM, simple short-trip packages
Nomad10 GB / 30 days: $13Fixed-data plans (a set number of gigabytes) with longer validity
AiraloUnlimited / 10 days: $34Huge destination catalog and unlimited options
HolaflyUnlimited / 10 days: $36.50Unlimited data plans (no gigabyte limit)

The right pick depends on your trip. If you stream a lot and never want to watch a data meter, an unlimited plan from Holafly or Airalo makes sense. If you want a month of validity, Nomad has plenty of choice. USIMS shines on short holidays of a week or ten days, especially in Europe, where $9 or $10 for 10 GB is hard to beat, and when you like the idea of one eSIM you keep and reuse.

Who it suits best

  • Holiday travelers. A 7 to 10 day European break is almost the ideal use case.
  • Business travelers. Keep your work number on your main SIM and let USIMS carry email, Teams, Slack and Zoom.
  • Frequent flyers. The reusable eSIM gets more useful with every trip.
  • Students abroad. Get online the minute you land while you decide on a local contract.
  • Families. Set everyone up before you leave, so “find a SIM shop” isn’t the first activity of the holiday.

Quick check before you buy

  • Make sure your phone supports eSIM (the app tests this for you).
  • Check your destination in the app’s country list. At the time of writing, USIMS isn’t available in Israel or Lebanon.
  • Keep the USIMS eSIM installed. Buying a second one replaces the first, along with any active plans.

The verdict

USIMS gets the important things right. It’s simple: one eSIM, your own number stays put, and you buy the data that fits the trip. In popular destinations the prices are genuinely friendly: $9 for 10 GB in France or the UK, $10 in Spain or Italy, and $15 in the US or Japan. The free starter data makes it easy to experiment, and the more you travel, the more the reusable eSIM pays off.

If you mainly want maps, messaging, email, social media and ride-hailing without thinking about roaming, USIMS is well worth installing before your next flight.
