You know that gadget that looks perfect on the outside but runs hot and slow because of one badly chosen part? Websites do the same thing. A lovely homepage can be hiding oversized images, heavy scripts (small programs your browser has to run), weak caching (saving a ready-made copy of your pages so they load faster next time) and a clunky mobile layout.
That’s the problem Kanva Digital goes after. Its founder, came from hardware engineering and electronics repair, and the approach shows. Kanva Digital starts by working out what’s actually wrong, and only then suggests the fix. It doesn’t open with “you need a whole new website.”
What Kanva Digital does
Kanva Digital works with businesses in the UK, US and Europe, with four main services:
- website speed and performance optimization
- website design and rebuilds
- technical SEO and AI-search visibility (more on that below)
- ongoing maintenance and improvement
It isn’t tied to one platform. It works with WordPress, Shopify and custom-built sites. WordPress is a popular CMS, or content management system, which is the tool many businesses use to edit their own pages.
The free review
You submit your site address, and a real person looks at its speed, mobile behaviour, Core Web Vitals (Google’s measurements of how fast a page loads, how quickly it responds and how stable it looks), technical structure and conversion potential. You get an improvement blueprint, usually within 24-48 hours. It’s free, with no obligation to hire anyone.
If you know your site feels off but can’t tell whether the cause is hosting, images, code or layout, that’s a handy first step. Automated tools will happily hand you a list of warnings. A person helps you decide which ones are worth your money.

A speed-first mindset
Speed is Kanva Digital’s strongest suit. Its optimization work can cover:
- image resizing and compression
- caching and server-response improvements
- script and stylesheet clean-up
- mobile-layout improvements
- Core Web Vitals work
- technical SEO (the behind-the-scenes setup that helps search engines read your site)
Google itself advises looking at overall page experience instead of chasing a single score, and Kanva’s approach fits that. Speed matters, and so do clarity and usability.
Google’s guidance on helpful content and page experience
The proof: Kanva tuned its own site
Kanva Digital used its own website as a test project and documented the results with Google PageSpeed Insights (Google’s free page-testing tool).
| Before | After | |
|---|---|---|
| Desktop performance score | 94 | 100 |
| Desktop LCP | 1.2 sec | 0.3 sec |
| Mobile performance score | 61 | 100 |
| Mobile LCP | 9.7 sec | 1.4 sec |
| Cumulative Layout Shift | not listed | 0 |
LCP, or Largest Contentful Paint, is how long the main content takes to appear on screen. CLS, or Cumulative Layout Shift, measures whether things jump around while a page loads. Zero is what you want.
The mobile jump is the one that matters. Going from nearly ten seconds to 1.4 changes how a site feels. According to the case study, it came from image work, smarter resource loading, mobile refinements, technical SEO, accessibility fixes and code clean-up, with no full redesign. Kanva Digital is upfront that every site starts from a different place, so treat this as proof of method, not a promise.

How that compares
Scopes differ, so this is a rough guide. BigRed lists site speed optimization from $600, a conversion audit at $2,000 and template websites from $1,500. Page Speed Wizard offers speed-only packages at €269, €469 and €569.
Both of them, like Kanva Digital, offer a free first look at your site, so free reviews are a healthy trend. Kanva Digital’s angle is the personal approach walkthrough. It also lets you go from diagnosis to a full small-business website under one roof, and the $499 Starter is a complete site, not only a report.
SEO, AI search and conversions
Kanva Digital pairs speed with technical SEO: metadata, canonical URLs (which tell search engines which version of a page is the “main” one), site structure, internal links, structured data, sitemaps (a file listing your pages) and indexing settings.
It also covers GEO, or Generative Engine Optimization, which means organizing your information so AI answer tools can understand and recommend your business. It’s a young field, but the basics are familiar: clear structure, factual content and solid technical foundations. Kanva Digital treats GEO as a companion to regular SEO.
Conversions get attention too. A conversion is just a visitor doing what you want, like sending an enquiry, booking or buying. Kanva Digital checks whether your main service is obvious, whether the next step is clear, whether mobile navigation is easy and whether your trust signals are visible.
WordPress, Shopify and custom sites
WordPress is Kanva Digital’s home turf, especially lightweight builds on GeneratePress (a WordPress theme known for lean code). Kanva Digital’s own site uses it. It also optimizes Shopify stores and custom sites, and the method stays the same: find the cause, prioritize, fix and test again. That could mean trimming app overhead on Shopify or reworking server and loading settings on a custom build.
A different extra: technical documentation review
Kanva Digital also offers a $149 documentation pilot. It reviews one technical document of up to ten pages or 5,000 words, looking at clarity, missing steps, terminology, consistency and how it compares with supplied specifications. Longer manuals are quoted separately. It fits the founder’s engineering background, and it’s handy for equipment makers and technical businesses.
Flexible terms
The main packages are one-time projects with no long-term commitment. Ongoing support is optional and separate. Scope, price and payment terms are confirmed before work begins, and payment can be by bank transfer, Wise, Stripe or PayPal where available. Read the proposal carefully, as you would with any service.
Who it suits
- Small businesses with a slow site. Repair may do more for you than a rebuild.
- First-time site owners. The Starter covers the essentials.
- Growing companies outgrowing a DIY builder. You get more control over speed, search and structure.
- Multi-country sellers. Kanva builds in region-aware caching for the UK, US and Europe.
- Technical manufacturers. The website plus documentation combination is rare.
Verdict
Kanva Digital offers specialist-level technical work in a package ordinary small businesses can afford. The free review makes it easy to try, prices are published, and the speed, SEO and conversion work are treated as one job. Its own mobile score going from 61 to 100, with LCP falling from 9.7 to 1.4 seconds, is a good example of the method at work.
If your site feels slow or isn’t pulling its weight, asking Kanva to look under the hood is a low-risk move. The first review is free.
